our weekend

With such a busy weekend last week, I was glad to have somewhat of a relaxed Friday evening (I had hoped for a full weekend of relaxation, but I forgot about some things I had planned already).

Friday night it was just Livi and I for most of the evening.  Jason was working on a paper due for a class he had in May and wanted to have it finished before he started class today.  That would have been fine, I love spending time with my girl, but I was SO tired, it was such a long short week.  She wasn’t terrible, but as tired as I was I think everything she did was magnified.  Jason finished up for the evening though and rescued me :)   Unfortunately Livi and I were still up at 11, but I think it took me about 2 minutes to fall asleep!

Saturday I got up and headed to the church to help decorate our room for VBS this week.  I waited for a while as my coordinator wasn’t there yet, but when she did get there it didn’t take us long to do what she had planned.  For 3 & 4 year olds, our room looks good!  I’m sure they don’t care!
In the afternoon I had a pregnancy class scheduled…one I should have taken when I was pregnant with Livi, but I skipped it.  I’m glad I took it this time, hopefully it will help me with Jackson in this area.  Out of all the mom’s in the class, there wasn’t a single baby girl to be.  We were all pregnant with boys!  The instructor said she had never had that happen in the 20+ years she’d been teaching!  I of course was the only non-new mom…but I was ok with that.
In the evening we decided to head downtown to the new Bicentennial park.  They were showing “Despicable Me”, so we thought we would try that with Livi…she did ok for a while, but 10pm hit and she was just not having it, she didn’t want to sit still so we left.  We didn’t have to pay for anything, except parking, so we didn’t mind leaving.  Of course, the moment we got to the car she was fine…go figure!

Sunday morning I was in the toddler nursery and it was fuller than I’ve seen it in months!  There some visitors and so that accounted for most of the extra kids!  It was nice to have a big group though.
Last night was the start of our VBS.  We had 56 kids!  I am working with ages 3-5.  We only had 5 kids, but I think we’re supposed to get a couple more tonight.  It was a good first night, we use Answers In Genesis’ cirriculum and this years theme is “Gold Rush”.  There is a drama at the end of every night and this years is going to be great, I can just tell from last night’s performance!  Our “actors” are so good!  I’m really looking forward to the rest of the week, even though I know I’ll be super tired!

Since there was a lot going on this weekend, I’m just going to update with bullet-points.  There’s too much to type and I’m too tired to put that much effort into it!  I would post some pictures, but my camera died, maybe tomorrow.

Friday-
-Went downtown to RWB
-Had a lot of fun, despite the heat-watched the parade and just sat around chatting with our friends.
-Livi got freaked out by the fireworks, but then fell asleep 1/2 way through!
-Waited for 2 hours to get home (1 hour standing around talking, 1 hour waiting in the parking lot…never had that happen before so I’m not sure what was going on!)

Saturday-
-Got up a lot earlier than I wanted to (since I didn’t go to bed until almost 2 the previous night)
-Went with Livi to the WABA (Westland Area Business Assoc.) parade to see Jason and the Westland football team.
-We got wet, but she got lots of candy and I got some coupons!  She of course got really excited when Jason walked by us too, so it was worth standing in the rain!
-Went shopping–I had $10 and 20% off at Carter’s so I picked up some deals, and everything I got was on clearance!  Score!  Also went to Once Upon a Child and got Jackson a TON of stuff-got 10% off it too!  I love sales!
-Went back to the high school to see Jason (they had a festival after parade), Livi jumped around in the bounce house.
-Got food ready for get together for that evening
-Went to Wells’ house for Grove City fireworks-always a good time!
-Livi didn’t freak out at the fireworks this time, instead she kept pointing to the sky saying “boom”
-Sat in more traffic on the way home…lol

Sunday-
-Went to church, took a nap, went back to church, Sunday was pretty boring…lol.
-Someone in our neighborhood was shooting fireworks, so we stood in the front yard to watch them.

Monday-
-Jason power-washed our house, while I killed a million ants…I must have finally gotten through to them (since they’ve been coming in the house for almost a week) or the pesticide we’ve sprayed a few times has finally killed them all, because after my rampage killing yesterday I haven’t seen a single one, lol!
-We had planned to go to Easton, shopping for me and playing in the water for Livi, but she took such a long nap that by the time we got there everything was closed :(   So we just let her play in the water for a while, and our friends Chip & Tiffany brought their kids up so Livi and Clay could play.
-We headed over to Gahanna for their fireworks, and it was pretty good.  Clay had been asking to see fireworks all weekend and so they promised him they would see some last night.  Livi on the other hand had seen fireworks each night since Friday!

Good long weekend, but I definitely wish I didn’t have to work today so I could have slept in a bit!

Well, the weekend wasn’t as low-key as I was hoping it would be…

Friday night we went to see Anna play baseball.  She’s so funny, she got to catch in the last inning, but really just sat there.  I got a kick out of it!  Since we were in Grove City, I wanted Graeter’s, so we headed over there and they had the whole street blocked off!  There was sidewalk chalk and other things for kids to do, so Livi had fun.  She tried to do the hula-hoop, but wasn’t quite getting it.  It was still cute to watch.

Saturday morning we got up and went to the Hilltop Bean dinner.  It’s an annual thing on the West Side of Columbus, always the 4th Saturday of June.  Our church has done a kids area for a few years so I thought it would be fun to take Livi.  Little did I know I would be helping…
At first there were no kids around, because the inflatables we had rented were inflated.  The generator running them died.  After about an hour someone had gotten a replacement and the bounce house, slide and basketball hoops were back up and running.  It was almost instantly a mob scene of kids.  Which also meant that our face painting table had a huge line!  There was 1 guy from our church drawing, and I felt bad that he had no help, so I went over and helped him…and sat there for probably a good 90 minutes.  I had no idea I would be there that long!  It was fun though, it was something I didn’t think I could do, but most of the basic things we offered were just that, basic.  Rainbows, flowers, hearts, smiley faces, spiders (yuck!), lightning bolts.  They were pretty easy.  Then 1 girl started the butterfly and I wasn’t sure how to do that at first, but I figured it out quickly!  We had a few kids as for the full face ones, but we didn’t have enough supplies for that, nor did I have the talent, lol!  We did do a few cat faces, coloring the nose and drawing some whiskers.  All in all, it was fun, I’m glad I could help.  Next year I’ll sign up for it and be a little more prepared for the crowd!
Saturday night we had talked about going downtown to the Columbus Commons (a new park area), they were having a free family night.  But we were just too tired so we stayed home.  It was our anniversary, but we had decided we weren’t going to do anything because we didn’t have a sitter, which was fine with us.

Sunday…church was interesting.  At least the 1st 20 minutes were!  When we walked in (and we were late like usual) I heard a kid in the bathroom next to our soundroom crying, but I thought that they had been bad and they were getting a spank.  So I thought nothing of it.  About 10 minutes later we’re sitting in the auditorium listening to announcements and all of a sudden I hear this banging and screaming!  I thought for sure someone was getting beaten!  So I got up to check it out and it was coming from that same bathroom.  I knocked on the door and asked what was going on and through the hiccuping I heard “I don’t have any toilet paper!”.  So Jason got a knife and unlocked the door and I found a poor little boy just sitting on the toilet, shaking and crying.  I got his mom and she got him taken care of, but I know that poor kid was in shock or something!  The rest of the day was not as interesting.  I did take a nap, which led to not being able to fall asleep until after 2 this morning…what’s weird though is that I don’t feel as tired as I do when I get more sleep.  Guess my body is getting ready for all nighters!

looong week…

I haven’t been so excited to see a Friday come in a long time.  Working all week, while pregnant is something I haven’t done in 2 years.  And 2 years ago, I was used to it, because I had been working full time for 6 years, having 2 days off in the middle of the week wasn’t something I was used to.  Needless to say, it’s a shock to the system.  Unfortunately, I have to do this 3 more times before I go on “baby vacation”.  I don’t think it would be so bad if we were busy, but the fact is, we aren’t.  I sit here all day, trying to read or play a game on my phone, but I give up after a while because even that thing that was supposed to keep my occupied has bored me.  Oh well, hopefully the next 3 weeks that I have to do this will be filled with more exciting things to do here…probably not though :(

Lately I’ve been thinking about changing doctor’s, because I really DON’T want to be induced again, and my doc told me that she won’t let me go more than 1 week past my DD.  That means that if he isn’t here by the 8th, I’ll probably be induced on the 9th.  But, thinking of the process of changing doctor’s (finding one I like, getting settled with them, having my FMLA papers redone, etc…) just doesn’t sound like fun.  Being induced does not appeal to me either, but if I did go longer past my due date, that means he could possibly be born on the 13th…and 2 kids with birthdays on the same day just seems weird to me.  And I really don’t want to go THAT long!  We’ll see what he decides to do :)   God will bring him when He’s ready, I just keep praying that it’s sooner than later.  Anytime after the 1st and before the 6th is good with me ;)

There is also this feeling that he might come early, as in 2-3 weeks early.  I’ve been experiencing some contractions this week.  I’m 99% sure they’re Braxton Hicks though, which is something I didn’t experience with Livi.

Tuesday I start my bi-weekly appointments, which means the rest of my pregnant time should go by rather quickly.  I feel like the entire thing has gone by quickly, it feels like I just took the 1st test!

I’m looking forward to a relaxed weekend.  Our 6th anniversary is tomorrow, but I don’t have any plans (unless Jason has something up his sleeve), so lounging around on the couch all day sounds like a good idea to me!

weekend recap…

This weekend was fun.  Friday night we went to the Creekside Festival in Gahanna…not as fun as I remember it from 2 years ago, but maybe that’s because I was carrying Livi around in my belly and not in a wagon that was running people over.  They don’t give you much room in the main walkway and there are tons of people there, so it was hard to maneuver around with the wagon.  And there wasn’t a ton of food either, which disappointed.  It started to get dark because of a storm (I’m starting to see a pattern with us and storms, they follow us around whenever we try to go to outdoor things!), so we took cover in a parking garage, but after about 10 minutes nothing happened.  So we started walking around and found a place to listen to some music, and what happens?  Another storm rolls in.  It actually rained this time, not too bad at first, but then it started blowing and we had to scrunch together with about 30 other people in this little corner…the wagon got wet because it didn’t fit.  Livi was, of course, no fun.  So we decided to leave.  She has this thing, that whenever one of us leaves her presence she cries until we come back “mommy!” or “daddy!”.  It gets old after a while and I try to ignore it, but I’m not good at that.  So I decided that we would start walking towards the parking lot.  You have to park somewhere and then take a shuttle, and he was parked probably more than 1 mile away.  She cried when I stopped so I just kept walking!  We probably walked a little more than 1/2 of the distance to where Jason had parked and then I decided to just wait for him.  Coincidentally, we stopped at Rita’s…yummy!  Finally Jason showed up (the lady driving the bus didn’t know what she was doing apparently!) and we went home.  That was a long night…
Saturday-Jason had a car wash with the football team, so Livi and I drove around looking for garage/yard sales.  There was supposed to be a huge community one in our neighborhood, but out of all the houses, there were only 3 sales.  How sad is that?!  So we went to Target and I finally got those big girl panties for Livi that I talked about in a previous post.  They have “mouse” (Minnie) on them.  She didn’t really care for it, so we’ll try it later.
We went out with Jason’s brother and his wife on Saturday night to see a movie and have pizza.  That was a good time, we don’t see them a lot, outside of church, so it was fun to hang out with them.
Sunday-Father’s Day!  I (Livi) gave Jason his gift on Saturday night.  I had made a collage poster on Shutterfly of pictures of the 2 of them together and put it in a frame.  He loved it, so I was glad!  He had told me not to get him anything because he had to renew his teaching license today and that was a whopping $200, but I still had to get him something.  So we went to Target last night and he got some new sandals that he’s been wanting to get.  It’s easier to just let him pick out something that he wants, at least I know he likes it!  We also didn’t really go out to eat…we did go to Grinder’s, looking back now we should have just gotten it to go, because even at a faster place like that Livi was a terror!  So from now on, it’s take out, fast food, or eating at home.

I guess our weekend was a little more upbeat than last…

Friday night we stayed in…litterally.  We did grill out for dinner, but after that a HUGE storm (these storms are crazy!) rolled in.  We had hail hitting the back of our house, it even ruined some of my little flowers :(   Livi wanted to eat the “ice” (hail)…she loves ice!  We played around with her potty for a while too.  She kept taking her diaper off, and she got into the wipes and started wiping herself, so I figured we would re-introduce the potty.  She sat on it for a while, but nothing happened.  No pressure, but I am crossing both fingers that she is out of diapers before the baby gets here!  Someone gave me the idea to put her in panties and when she wets herself she’ll figure it out quickly how much she doesn’t like it and maybe she’ll catch on.  So I think we’ll try that this week.  This friend said that if she doesn’t get it within a week to go back to the diapers and revisit it in a few weeks.  After Livi went to bed Jason and I watched “Just Go With It”, I didn’t think he would like it but he laughed a lot :)

Saturday we went to some yard/garage sales.  We were able to find a slide thingy for Livi.  She loves going down the slides at the park and she gets upset when we don’t stop!  We saw the slide and stopped, and I got out to see the price but felt it was overpriced.  Livi had seen it and kept crying out “side, side”.  So Jason decided to drive back, and ask the lady if she would drop the price and amazingly she did!  This thing was probably $100 or more if you buy it new at the store (before it was discontinued) and we got it for more than 50% off!  When we got home we put the slide in her pool and she absolutely LOVED that!  In the evening we went to a friends house.  They had hosted a grad party for their nephew that day and had leftover food so they invited a bunch of us over.  I have to say, it was fun to see them, but there was this lady there that I could have just smacked.  She had the most vulgar mouth I’ve heard ever and didn’t have any consideration for anyone else.  It was hard to stay away from her because all the kids and some of the adults were playing PIG or HORSE and Livi wanted to be right there in the action, but I just wanted to leave, or ask her to keep her mouth shut!  I was afraid she might get rude with me, so I just did my best to stay away and keep Livi away from her.

Yesterday I decided that I would go to our evening classes at church, since during the summer we’re split up by ladies and men.  I really like the ladies class so far and I love the teachers!  I’m excited to see what the rest of the summer brings with that class!

I just realized it’s been a while since I posted last…

Starting with last Thursday…Jason calls me and says “guess what your daughter did?”.  This could be a million things so I told him just to tell me.  Jeanne had put her down for a nap, but hadn’t heard from her and it had been over 3 hours since she went down.  (Later I found out that the reason she didn’t hear her was because our monitor was off downstairs…).  She went up to check on her and Livi was awake.  She held out her hand and said “Neanne” and handed her something.  It was poop.  Jeanne looks in the crib and it was EVERYWHERE.  All over Livi, the sheet, her blanket, the crib rails, the bumper, her pillow pet, when I say everywhere, I mean it!  So Jeanne got Livi cleaned up and just as she was finishing Jason got home, so he got to take care of the rest of it!  She hadn’t undressed, she just reached into her shorts, and into her diaper and starting taking it out.  Talk about gross.  I’m so glad I wasn’t there for it!  Actually, on Saturday morning she did the same thing, but it was only on her shorts and her blanket.  So now we check on her a couple of times while she’s napping to make sure she isn’t awake and playing in her poo.

We had a pretty low key weekend.  Friday night we went to a retirement party for the principal at Westland.  It was ok, not my cup of tea, lets just say.  Saturday…what did we do on Saturday?  Oh, we took Livi to get her hair cut.  Had to think about that for a minute :)   It doesn’t look much different, I didn’t want her curls cut out so she only took a smidge off and trimmed her bangs.  Then we went home and played in the water outside while Jason washed the car.  Later we attempted to go downtown to the Arts Festival, but got caught in a huge storm.  We thought it would pass quickly, but we sat under a bridge for probably 10 minutes waiting for the hail to stop!  Luckily it was small hail, maybe the size of a marble and our car is fine.  We drove to the festival, but everything was closed and we didn’t know when it would open up again, so we left.  I was sad, I was looking forward to some fair food ;)

Sunday after church we went out to eat with Jason’s family, to a place that used to be my favorite, York Steakhouse.  Livi was FUN.  Jason took her out to be spanked 3 different times.  I don’t normally pay attention to everyone else when Livi is like this (and she usually doesn’t go on for as long as she did), but this lady sitting next to us kept giving me the evil eye.  I really wanted to turn around and say something to her, but I didn’t.  Livi finally calmed down, but by that point it was time to leave.  So I think that effectively ends eating out for us, unless it’s just Jason and I.

Since Jason is out of school he has been home with Livi all week.  He usually starts summer school next Monday, but got a call last week that they didn’t hire him for this summer.  It sucks, but at least that money wasn’t budgeted for.  So he’ll start his 4th master’s class on Monday and work on it along with the 5th & 6th classes until the beginning of August, then starts football…yay.  Anyway, since he didn’t have anything to do this week, we went to the zoo on Tuesday.  Boy it was a hot one!  But we stayed well hydrated and had a good time.  The polar bears were more active than I’ve ever seen!  It was fun to watch them, but I was jealous that they got to swim and I couldn’t :(

That’s pretty much been the last week for us.  This weekend will probably prove to be the same, although if the rain stops I’m planning on going out to my dad’s to finish planting some things.  Oh, and LOTS of garage sales tomorrow!  Hoping I can find some good deals!
